The Boardman Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 16th straight defeat. They fell 58-47 to Canton Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Boardman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Canton Central Catholic is ranked 167th).
Terrell Mcdowell and Grayson Eicher certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mcdowell scored 15 points along with two steals, while Eicher almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeff Markovitch, who scored eight points.
Boardman's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Canton Central Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Boardman will be playing at home against Canfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Boardman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Canton Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Garfield Community Learning Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Canton Central Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
