If The Siuslaw Vikings were riding high off their 51-7 takedown of the Pleasant Hill Billies last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Siuslaw suffered a tough 34-14 loss at the hands of Dayton on Friday.
It was another big night for Boston Hodges, who rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 59 yards and a touchdown. Hodges was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Dayton also got a significant boost from Zach Smith, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.
Siuslaw's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Dayton, Sisters, and Elmira. As for Dayton, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Siuslaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dayton will square off against Yamhill-Carlton at TBD on Friday. Yamhill-Carlton is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
