Basketball Game Preview: Grove City Christian Eagles vs. Genoa Christian Academy

The Grove City Christian Eagles will venture away from home to challenge Genoa Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Grove City Christian came up short against Fairfield Christian Academy and fell 49-38. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sarah Karlich, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. What's more, she also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jemma DeStefano, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Genoa Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 72-34 loss at the hands of Marietta. The game marked Genoa Christian Academy's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Grove City Christian's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Genoa Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Grove City Christian was dealt a bruising 60-33 defeat at the hands of Genoa Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Grove City Christian was down 33-9.
