San Dieguito Academy suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Torrey Pines, falling 84-32. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Dieguito Academy in their matchups with Torrey Pines: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, La Jolla was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 58-52 to University City. While losing is never fun, La Jolla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while University City is ranked 177th).
Defeat or not, La Jolla got some senior leadership from Elijah Vaz who scored 23 points and Michael Contreras who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vaz has scored all season.
San Dieguito Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for La Jolla, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
