Basketball Recap: Kyler Theophile Key Part of a Team Effort in Jaguars Win

On Friday, the Coral Glades Jaguars didn't have too much trouble with the Central Cobras as they won 72-57. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Cobras are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coral Glades' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyler Theophile, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Theophile has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Gavin Reed was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Theophile wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Coral Glades was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Central lost, don't look at Joseph Gayle. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 15 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Maxon, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Coral Glades has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Central, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Coral Glades wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-61 loss against Miami Country Day on the 4th. As for Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-54 victory against Lake Worth on the 4th.
