Englewood and Fort Lupton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Pirates will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Bluedevils at 4:00 p.m. Englewood will be strutting in after a victory while Fort Lupton will be coming in after a defeat.
Englewood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lincoln, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Lancers on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Rj Cullyford made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Englewood is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Cullyford was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Pebbles, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Bobby Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Fort Lupton was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They lost 22-2 to Frederick.
Javier Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fort Lupton has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Englewood, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
Englewood took their victory against Fort Lupton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluedevils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
