Softball Recap: Headland's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Headland never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Carroll Eagles with a sharp 15-0 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Layla Goodwin was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ava Allsup was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Headland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carroll only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory was the third in a row for Headland, bringing their record up to 13-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Headland will face off against Houston Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carroll, they will head out to square off against Eufaula at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
