Gracyn McFall tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abby Simmers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Derecola, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Pope John Paul II was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Interboro never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Penn Wood.
Sam Stavola was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Stavola was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Interboro got a massive performance out of Olivia Bulovas, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Mare Nagle, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Interboro is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Pope John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
