Burns came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the East Gaston Warriors a 13-0 shutout. Give the Bulldogs' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Burns pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for East Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Burns will take on rival Cherryville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 1.8, the Ironmen 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, East Gaston is set to challenge their familiar foe Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
