After flying high against the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen last Friday, the Faith Baptist School Falcons came back down to earth. Faith Baptist School was dealt a 56-15 loss at the hands of the Flames on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Faith Baptist School has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Faith Baptist School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greenwood Mennonite racked up 18 assists.
Leading Greenwood Mennonite to victory were Faith Troyer and Laci Mast. Troyer almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Mast scored 23 points along with five steals. Mast is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carli Welfley, who scored eight points.
Faith Baptist School's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Greenwood Mennonite, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faith Baptist School will challenge the Fighting Marlins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seaside Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Falcons are ranked 34th). As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will head out on the road to face off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-State Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Flames a 14-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
