The Pomeroy Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Oakesdale Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pomeroy is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.
Pomeroy put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Dayton 64-16 at home. With Pomeroy ahead 39-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Pomeroy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyzer Herres out in front who scored 11 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Trace Roberts, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Oakesdale came up short against DeSales on Saturday and fell 60-49. Oakesdale has struggled against DeSales recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Pomeroy pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Oakesdale, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.
Everything went Pomeroy's way against Oakesdale when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Pomeroy made off with a 65-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pomeroy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
