The Classical Academy Caimans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 64-54 to Kearny. Classical Academy lost against Kearny in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-45 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Classical Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Issac Davis. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points. Davis scored a full 50% of Classical Academy's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jasper Kim, who scored 13 points.
Kearny's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charles Thomas, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Ackerman, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals.
Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Kearny, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Classical Academy will head out on the road to face off against Army-Navy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kearny, they will be playing at home against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sweetwater's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
