It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cary-Grove had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Crystal Lake South Gators with a sharp 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaden Norman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jacob Duvall and Brock Iverson did most of the damage at the plate: Duvall went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Iverson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits Duvall has posted since back in May. Keenan Krysh was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Cary-Grove's win bumped their record up to 20-12. As for Crystal Lake South, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-13.
As of now, neither Cary-Grove nor the Gators have any future games scheduled.
