The Elkhorn Antlers came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Blair by a score of 66-54. Given Elkhorn's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Blair is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elkhorn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nixon Farmer, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Farmer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Charlie Lamski, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Elkhorn's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Blair, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhorn is on the road again on Friday and plays Skutt Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Elkhorn's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Blair, they will head out on the road to challenge Concordia at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Concordia will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Blair surely won't give up without a fight.
