With a playoff game on the line, the Pinewood Christian Patriots rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 68-61 victory over Brookwood. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Banks Booth had a dynamite game for Pinewood Christian, rushing for 124 yards and six touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Jake Rogers got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Brookwood still got an impressive performance from Rodge Waldrop, who threw for 417 yards and six touchdowns while completing 74.4% of his passes, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Waldrop has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Nic Clark did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 61 receiving yards.
Pinewood Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Brookwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Pinewood Christian will head out on the road to face off against John Milledge Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. John Milledge Academy will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Brookwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
