The Salesian College Preparatory Pride and the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Salesian College Preparatory Pride had to settle for second. They took a serious blow against the Mustangs, falling 48-12. Salesian College Preparatory was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Vincent de Paul apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2014.
St. Vincent de Paul found their leader in underclassman Gabe Casanovas, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Mason Caturegli was another key contributor, rushing for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Salesian College Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for St. Vincent de Paul, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Salesian College Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Vincent de Paul will be playing at home against Palo Alto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palo Alto knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully St. Vincent de Paul likes a good challenge.
