The Wildwood Wildcats waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Forest by a score of 41-34. Given Wildwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Forest is ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wildwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trinidy Harris, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Essiance Jasper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Forest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jiyah Hamilton, who scored five points along with five assists and two steals. Taleah Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Forest struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wildwood pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Wildwood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Wildwood will be playing at home against Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forest, they will square off against Florida State University High School at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
