The Cedar Creek Pirates fell victim to the Winslow Township Eagles''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a 14-0 bruising from the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Cedar Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Winslow Township is ranked 14th).
Billy Smith threw for 70 yards on seven of 18 attempts. Darius Benjamin was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards. On the ground, Aamir Dunbar rushed for 57 yards.
Winslow Township was led to victory by Deante Ruffin and Kameron Brown. Ruffin rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, while Brown rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Cedar Creek's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Winslow Township, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Creek will take on Wall Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wall Township is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Winslow Township, they will look to defend their home field on October 28th against Pennsauken at 6:00 p.m.
