The Papillion-LaVista South Titans are taking a road trip to take on the Grand Island Islanders at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Papillion-LaVista South comes in on four and Grand Island on three.
Papillion-LaVista South is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Buena Vista a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Grayson Wallace looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tye McDougal was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Cody Cizek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Papillion-LaVista South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, Grand Island got the win against Norfolk on Thursday by a conclusive 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Islanders, who have now won three matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Miles Nelson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Sam Schroeder was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Broxton Barrientos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Papillion-LaVista South's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Grand Island, their record now sits at 6-2.
Papillion-LaVista South's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Titans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Grand Island, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Papillion-LaVista South continue to outrun the ball?
Papillion-LaVista South came out on top in a nail-biter against Grand Island in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
