Deep Run has gone 9-1 against Maggie Walker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against Maggie Walker at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Deep Run's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Maggie Walker has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
On Friday, Deep Run needed a bit of extra time to put away Glen Allen. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Jaguars 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 14th.
Emily Plank spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooke Black was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hope Tate, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Maggie Walker couldn't beat James Monroe on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. Maggie Walker came up short against James Monroe, falling 22-9.
Hadley Walder stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two triples, and two runs. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season. Adria Mittal was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Maggie Walker's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Deep Run, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Maggie Walker's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Deep Run has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Maggie Walker, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Deep Run keep running through batters, or will Maggie Walker buck the trend?
