Football Recap: Poly Piles Up the Points Against Rancho Christian

After losing to Rancho Christian the last time they met, Poly decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bears blew past the Eagles 42-6 on Saturday. With the Bears ahead 28-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Marjok Gustafson had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 168 yards and four TDs on only 16 passes. He has become a key player for Poly: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Another reason for the win was Poly's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Nicolai Todorovski and Benjie Mathews, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Michael Gaines Jr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Poly now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rancho Christian, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Poly has already played their next matchup, a 33-27 victory against Hillcrest on the 17th. As for Rancho Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 31-6 win against Arlington on the 17th.
