Basketball Recap: Jaxson Randolph's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cloverdale over Healdsburg

Cloverdale was the 54-49 winner over Healdsburg when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cloverdale Eagles took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Healdsburg Greyhounds. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxson Randolph, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Randolph has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Montanye, who went 7 of 8 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Randolph wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Cloverdale was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Healdsburg only posted eight assists.

Leading Healdsburg to victory were Ethan Overdorf and Thatcher Little. Overdorf posted 16 points along with eight boards and five assists, while Little went 10 of 23 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincenzo Loupy, who had five points and eight boards.

Cloverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Healdsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Cloverdale will host Upper Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cloverdale is facing Upper Lake at the right time seeing as Upper Lake is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Healdsburg, they will square off against Ukiah at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
