The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Olympic Heights Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cardinal Newman is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Olympic Heights in Florida (Cardinal Newman is ranked 116th, while Olympic Heights is ranked 533rd).
Even though Trinity Christian Academy scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Cardinal Newman still came out on top. Cardinal Newman took their matchup against Trinity Christian Academy 72-63. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cardinal Newman.
Meanwhile, Olympic Heights pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-55 to Palm Beach Central.
Despite their loss, Olympic Heights saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dylan Marks, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Ben Wigodner was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Their wins bumped Cardinal Newman to 6-1 and Trinity Christian Academy to 2-1.
Cardinal Newman strolled past Olympic Heights when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a score of 63-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Olympic Heights' Caleb Mackrey, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 6 steals. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Cardinal Newman to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
