After two games on the road, Davis is heading back home. They will take on the Fremont Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Fremont likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Davis faced Weber in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Davis was the clear victor by a 80-58 margin over Weber. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Davis has posted since December 15, 2023.
Zach Fisher and Coleman Atwater were among the main playmakers for Davis as the former scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and the latter scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Atwater has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tradon Bessinger, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Fremont pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Layton at home by a decisive 82-65 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (62), Fremont still had to take the loss.
Despite their loss, Fremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tyler Allen, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hunter Hansen was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Davis' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Davis have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fremont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Davis beat Fremont 66-54 when the teams last played on January 12th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fremont's Ryker Saunders, who scored 18 points.
