Juab hasn't had much luck against North Sanpete recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Juab Wasps will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Sanpete Hawks at 3:30 p.m. Juab has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Juab is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost 11-1 to Manti.
Madi Blankenagel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Meanwhile, North Sanpete never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over Carbon. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Kaecee Johnson's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, North Sanpete let Rylee Stewart and Alivia Madsen run wild. Stewart went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Madsen scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Madsen a new career-high in doubles (two). Shea Rawlinson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
North Sanpete kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only managed three hits.
The win got North Sanpete back to even at 4-4. As for Juab, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Juab's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Juab has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Sanpete, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Juab continue to outrun the ball?
Juab might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from North Sanpete in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Juab have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
