On Thursday, Apex Friendship suffered a rough 50-27 defeat at the hands of Southern Durham. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Apex Friendship has scored all season.
Apex Friendship lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ailani Collazo, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Collazo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dori Williams, who scored nine points.
Briana Hughes was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists for Southern Durham. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Jakayla Palmer was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Apex Friendship's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Southern Durham, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Apex Friendship won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southern Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Southern Alamance's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Apex Friendship's offense will have their work cut out for Apex Friendship. Southern Durham won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northwood at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Northwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
