The Brush Beetdiggers will head out to challenge the Weld Central Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brush hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Brush's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Lyons 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beetdiggers have posted since May 8, 2025.

Ben Mettlen
| 04/02/26 @ Berthoud | 7 |
| 04/15/26 vs University | 3 |
| 03/21/26 vs Lamar | 3 |
The result came thanks to Ben Mettlen's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brush is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Brush saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keeton Jilek, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Weld Central hadn't done well against Fort Morgan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mustangs 7-5.
The team relied heavily on Lucas Johann, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Brush's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Weld Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brush has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Weld Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Brush was able to grind out a solid victory over Weld Central when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beetdiggers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
