There's no place like home for Buena, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Palmyra Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-1 victory. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Dylan O'Connell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Buena: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 10-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ben Cohen was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Buena's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jaevon Alexander, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Buena's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Palmyra, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
