After flying high against Gibson County  last Wednesday, Normal West came back down to earth. Normal West fell just short of the Centennial Chargers by a score of  7-6 on Monday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2024.
  Drew Hart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. Those  stolen bases marked the first that  he  snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cooper Temples, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Normal West's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Centennial, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3-1 record  this season.
 Centennial will head out on the road to  take on  St. Joseph-Ogden  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. St. Joseph-Ogden's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4  runs per game  this season, so Centennial's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Normal West will be paying especially close attention to Centennial's  contest: after Centennial faces off against St. Joseph-Ogden, they'll take on Normal West again  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
