The Jordan-Elbridge Eagles will challenge the Hannibal Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Jordan-Elbridge came up short against Port Byron and fell 14-10. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
David III Dominick put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Dominick was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Nolan Brunelle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Brunelle is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Bigness, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Hannibal had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Blue Devils.
Like Jordan-Elbridge, Hannibal also got a great game from a two-way player: Earl Hofmann. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Hofmann was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Tyler Emmons was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. Alex Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Hannibal's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Jordan-Elbridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jordan-Elbridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hannibal struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jordan-Elbridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Hannibal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
