The Spring Valley Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Jefferson at home by a decisive 90-76 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Spring Valley came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in Nevada, while Jefferson is ranked 210th in New York).
When it comes to explaining why Spring Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alijah Adem. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 8 assists. Adem scored a full 46.1% of Spring Valley's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jamo Mccall was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Spring Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Spring Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4. As for Jefferson, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Spring Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Orem at 9:00 a.m. on December 19th. Jefferson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Boulder Creek at 9:00 a.m. on December 20th.
