The Anthony Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 62-29 loss at the hands of Fort Hancock. Anthony has struggled against Fort Hancock recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Anthony saw an underclassman step up: Angelee Guerro scored 23 points. That's the first time this season that Guerro scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aissa Castillo, who scored six points.
Anthony's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-11. As for Fort Hancock, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anthony will take on Wink at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Fort Hancock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McCamey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCamey has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
