The Coosa Christian Conquerors will face off against the North Sand Mountain Bison on Saturday.
Coosa Christian managed to slip by Appalachian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Conquerors lost 11-2 to the Eagles on Thursday.
Brody Nelson and Angelo Alberghina did some serious damage despite the final result: Nelson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Alberghina scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cameron Robertson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, North Sand Mountain came into Monday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Collinsville on Monday.
Carson Harvey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Levi Burgess, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Poss, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
North Sand Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Collinsville only posted a batting average of .154.
Coosa Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for North Sand Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Coosa Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .538. However, it's not like North Sand Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coosa Christian suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to North Sand Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Conquerors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
