For the first time this season, Wasatch will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to square off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wasatch's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
Wasatch barely beat Cottonwood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wasps put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 12-1 win on Friday. Considering the Wasps have won five games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Braxton Faller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Tyson Dahl looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Eddie Bluth was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Austin Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Wasatch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove faced Lone Peak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Vikings fell 6-1 to the Knights. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Pleasant Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tobin Degelbeck, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Degelbeck's first of the season.
Wasatch pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wasatch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .439. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
