Volleyball Recap: Wabaunsee Escapes with a Win

Wabaunsee had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Osage City Indians.

Wabaunsee had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final set scores came out to 19-25, 26-24, 25-21.

Wabaunsee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsley Michaelis, who had 25 assists and 12 digs. Another player making a difference was Talen Orton, who had 13 digs, 10 kills, and a solo block.

When it comes to explaining why Osage City lost, don't look at Madalyn Mullinix. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and four aces. The team also got some help from Hayden Lieber, who had nine kills and four digs.

Wabaunsee's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Osage City, they have now lost five of their last six games on the road. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wabaunsee will square off against their in-conference opponent Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Osage City is set to challenge their familiar foe Council Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
