The Baker Gators will square off against the Freeport Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Freeport will be up against a hot Baker squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Baker put the hurt on Laurel Hill with a sharp 26-9 win on Monday. The matchup marked the Gators' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Ty Fernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fernandez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and one double. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Garner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Baker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Freeport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Rutherford 12-2 on Monday. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Ryan Darrow was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. Freeport is undefeated when Darrow posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Digges, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Freeport pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Baker, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Freeport's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Baker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. It's a different story for Freeport, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Baker's hitters?
Baker might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Freeport in their previous matchup back in February. Will Baker have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
