Elgin/Pope John had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 49-44 victory over West Holt.
Elgin/Pope John's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Keyera Eisenhauer, who scored 18 points, and Ashlynne Charf, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, Central Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They put the hurt on Riverside with a sharp 59-33 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Central Valley has posted against Riverside since January 15, 2019.
Central Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Johnson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Cayle Grossart was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Elgin/Pope John's record is now 13-1. As for Central Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Everything came up roses for Elgin/Pope John against Central Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 69-30 win. With Elgin/Pope John ahead 35-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
