The First Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Appling Christian Academy 63-31.
First Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Rylan Peacock and Warren Williams. Peacock scored 9 points, while Williams scored 10 points. Williams scored a full 32.3% of First Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jaden Drake was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds for Appling Christian Academy. The game was Drake's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Xzayvier Anderson, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds.
First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Appling Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Academy will square off against Appling Christian Academy on Monday. As for Appling Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Community Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
