Andrean is 9-0 against Highland since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Andrean Fighting 59ers will head out on the road to take on the Highland Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Andrean knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.
Victory Christian Academy typically has all the answers at home, but last Thursday Andrean proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 60-51.
Jimmy Finley and Aiden Austin were among the main playmakers for Andrean as the former scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and the latter scored 22 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Finley pulled down eight or more rebounds. Alex Austin was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, Highland didn't have too much trouble with Lake Station Edison on the road on Friday as they won 67-50. The win was just what Highland needed coming off of a 69-43 defeat in their prior match.
Andrean is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Andrean beat Highland 70-60 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Highland's Rico Maldonado, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Andrean to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
