Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Nona). They were the clear victors by a 24-13 margin over the Trinity Prep Saints on Wednesday. Maria Trujillo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Trujillo was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Valeria Rivera was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Audrey Hoyt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Lake Nona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Lake Nona's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Trinity Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
