Lake Catholic has won six straight games at home, while Canfield has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. Lake Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Lake Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Girard get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.
Not much got past Patrick Radigan, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Girard off the board. Radigan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lake Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Boyes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Canfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hubbard on Tuesday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Cardinals have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Anthony Groner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. Groner was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, David Murphy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Dylan Mancini was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Canfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Canfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 23-4.
