The Center Roughriders won against the Gilmer Buckeyes last Friday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Center enjoyed a cozy 55-36 win over the Buckeyes. Given Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Buckeyes are ranked 1138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emonte Cross was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Johnson, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Center is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Gilmer, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8.
Center will square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Henderson has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Gilmer, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Chapel Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
