The Gustine Reds will venture away from home to challenge the Orestimba Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gustine was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Modesto 9-7.
Jake Campbell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Ben Travao looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, Mike Saaranzin was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Avery Ethridge also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orestimba). They put the hurt on Stone Ridge Christian with a sharp 12-6 win on Tuesday.
Like Gustine, Orestimba also got a great game from a two-way player: Payton Marcotte. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marcotte was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Donovan Torres, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Kevin Moreno was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Orestimba was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Orestimba picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Gustine, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Gustine took their victory against Orestimba in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gustine since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
