The Jim Thorpe Olympians will head out to challenge the Lehighton Indians at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jim Thorpe has three straight wins, Lehighton has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Jim Thorpe earned a 10-7 victory over Northern Lehigh. That's two games straight that the Olympians have won by exactly three runs.
Nathan Frantz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Jim Thorpe: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise. Frantz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Tanner MoDavis was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Schrantz, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Jim Thorpe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lehighton came up short against Bangor on Saturday and fell 9-6.
Cody Snyder was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Jayse Lawrence was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Jim Thorpe's record now sits at 9-10. As for Lehighton, they now also have a losing record of 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jim Thorpe has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lehighton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jim Thorpe might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Lehighton in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Olympians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
