The Mt. Vernon Marauders will face off against the Pendleton Heights Arabians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mt. Vernon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Anderson get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. Considering the Marauders have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Amelia Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Mt. Vernon got a big performance out of Breanna Laffey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Laffey has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Purcell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Mt. Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Pendleton Heights made easy work of Muncie Central on Wednesday and carried off a 12-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Arabians.
Cassie Hayes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Avry Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Pendleton Heights' victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for Mt. Vernon, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Pendleton Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Mt. Vernon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pendleton Heights, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Mt. Vernon keep running through batters, or will the Arabians buck the trend?
Everything went Mt. Vernon's way against Pendleton Heights in their previous matchup on May 7th, as Mt. Vernon made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Arabians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
