It was a good run, but the Battle Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost to Fort Zumwalt South on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Battle has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Battle had strong showings from Jack Putnam, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Tate Mccubbin, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Battle's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Fort Zumwalt South, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Southern Boone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Spartans are ranked 12th). As for Fort Zumwalt South, they will head out on the road to face off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Howell has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 352 points over their last five matchups.
