After flying high against the McLouth Bulldogs last Friday, the Horton Chargers came back down to earth. Horton was the victim of a tough 52-30 defeat at the hands of Valley Falls on Tuesday. Horton has struggled against Valley Falls recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Valley Falls can attribute much of their success to Korie Kirkwood, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Kirkwood has scored at least 25% of Valley Falls' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Brown, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Horton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Valley Falls, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Horton will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson County North on Friday. As for Valley Falls, they will head out on the road to face off against McLouth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
