Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Miami Beach is ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacob Marquez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Walker Allen, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Gulliver Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Miami Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulliver Prep will face off against Sports Leadership & Management at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Miami Beach, they will head out on the road to take on Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
