After a string of four wins, Sherando's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nelson County Governors. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Governors 12-8 in the first quarter.
Nelson County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Giles out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Colton Ward, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.
Sherando's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Nelson County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-3.
Sherando will welcome Skyline at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Skyline knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Sherando likes a good challenge. As for Nelson County, they will head out to challenge Rappahannock County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
