Miramonte is 8-2 against Acalanes since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Miramonte Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Acalanes Dons at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Miramonte put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Mt. Diablo at home to the tune of 80-23. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Miramonte as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Miramonte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Kaufhold, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Chase Miller was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Acalanes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Berean Christian 76-34 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Acalanes has managed all season.
Acalanes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddox Malm out in front who scored 11 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Krackeler, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Miramonte's record is now 14-7. As for Acalanes, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Miramonte have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Acalanes struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Miramonte came up short against Acalanes in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 63-53. Can Miramonte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
